Technically speaking, it's probably the wrong time of the year to be discussing little black dresses. The classic LBD is primarily a dress suited to colder weather and darker evenings, and relegated to the back of the wardrobe for it's shorter, floral cousin during the summer months.
Except summer hasn't really materialised this year. Which gives me a great excuse to browse for some more little black dresses! Luckily, the shops are full of some great LBDs, and some even better LBMDs (Little Black Maternity Dresses). This Maternity Lace Dress (right) is £38 from ASOS.com, and is very on trend with the lace detail and shift dress shape.
Here are a few more of my favourite Little Black Maternity Dresses:
I fell in love with Holly Willoughby's maternity range from Very.co.uk when I wrote about them recently. This Holly Willoughby pleat jersey maternity dress (above) from the range is only £35, and the ruched detail is a great way of allowing the fabric to skim over your bump.
This Maternity Wrap Dress, £38, from Topshop.com has a great bow detail, and the wrap front style means you can wear it after birth as well.
This Maternity black Marilyn dress, with its large bow and pleated waist detail, is perfect for evening events. It's £30 from Red Herring Maternity.
This Black cross-over maternity dress from Wondermummy.com is only £19.99, and has hidden pockets at the front for breastfeeding, making it a great long term choice.
This chiffon corsage babydoll dress from ASOS.com is my favourite by far. The corsage detail gives the impression of the dress being designer, but it's only £38!
