Where Are You Going On Your Family Holiday This Year?

January is traditionally a time when many families book their summer holidays. It's just soooo cold right now, we need the prospect of a little sunshine later in the year to get us through the winter.

If you have pre-school aged children, you may be feeling too exhausted to travel far on holiday. But do make the most of not being tied down to school holidays - you'll be shocked when you find out how much costs rise in peak season.

So where to take the family this year? Share your suggestions if you've had a holiday you'd recommend to other families.

Last year we had a brilliant trip to Pembrokeshire, exploring the lovely beaches. I know it can be a hike to get to West Wales, but the good thing is that once you're there, there's plenty to do within a fairly small radius. Even in high season it wasn't too busy and made for a lovely traditional seaside family holiday. We booked through FBM Holidays who proved to have some great properties and good customer service.

Also my children are begging us to take them back to Butlins again, with its fancy new hotel, but I don't think anything could live up to Chico and the stars of X Factor show.

This year I would like to go a bit further afield, and like the sound of some of First Choice's healthy family holidays, like this brand new family village in Rhodes. It offers everything from spa treatments to abseiling to a nearby beach, and the one thing a UK holiday can't guarantee, sunshine. Or the Marismas Club in Spain which offers a great range of sporty activities. Great if you're an active family who would go mad with only a sun-lounger to recline on for two weeks.
