Eating out with a family, particularly for the first time, can raise a whole lot of questions. Will they serve food my children will like? Do they have the necessary high chairs? Is the restaurant family-friendly? (Because there's nothing worse then fellow diners tutting every time your kids utter a word.)
Kid-friendly restaurants fall into three categories: Fast-food, unhealthy types with Happy Meals and hundreds of calories, standard restaurants with specific hours suited for families or restaurants that provide a varied menu, entertainment for children, and a friendly attitude to kids. The Spur Steak and Grill falls into the final category.
The restaurant offers a kids menu, play area, activity pack and a kids eat free evening on Fridays. The menu itself is a nice mixture of steaks, children dishes, ribs and sharing platters. The meals aren't exactly healthy, but they're not as bad as a drive through value meal.
Under 12s can also join the Kids Club, which gives them a special voucher on their birthday and an individual membership number.
