Mother-Of-Three Caught Drink Driving With Five Kids In The Back

A drunken mother-of-three was stopped by CCTV operators when they spotted her leaving a pub and driving off in a people carrier with five children in the back.

The operators alerted the police to Emma Hartley's car, and she was eventually stopped outside a supermarket in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Later tests showed that she was three times over the legal drink-drive limit.

Hartley, 35, had been spotted downing pints of cider before taking her three children, ages 11, seven and five, and the two of her parents' neighbours' children back home.

The children had spent the earlier part of the day roller skating, while their mum sat in the pub waiting for them.

Hartley has admitted she is 'absolutely mortified' by her actions on that day. She claims she only drank two pints of cider, and pulled over at the local shop to phone her parents once she realised she was drunk.

She has been given a 20-month driving ban and been fined £200 and £40 court costs.
