Tip Of The Day: A Father's Day Gift You Can Knit

It used to be a rule of family law that all dads had to possess a tie knitted by their offspring. Seriously, in the 1970's the streets were awash with commuter dads in badly knitted ties.

But now the crafting revolution is upon us, and dad is expecting something a mite more sophisticated.

So check out this cool dad tea cosy, the perfect gift for the tea-slurping man in your life. Start work now and you'll have it ready for Father's Day on 20th June.

The pattern has been designed by Jane Asher, and it's part of a range of tea cosies designed by celebrity knitting fans including Angela Rippon and Maureen Lipman to support the Marie Curie Cancer Care Blooming Great Tea Party.

It's only £2, with money raised going to support the charity. Once you have gone through the check out you will be sent an email with a link to a PDF of the pattern which you can print out and keep. So you could get knitting and started on it straight away.

If you or anyone you know has been affected by cancer, then you'll know all about the great work this charity does.

The Blooming Great Tea Party is aiming to raise £1 million by encouraging people to host a fund rasing tea party of their own.

And if you're a keen knitter, there's also a Tea Cosy Knitting Competition you can enter by adapting one of the simple patterns here.

Just don't forget to make your dad plenty of cuppas on 20 June!
