THE SCOOP: Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig's blend of intricate embroidery and elaborate fabrics has made Marchesa a staple on the red carpet. For their s/s 2010 collection, the design duo was inspired by the opera Madame Butterfly and the elegant, modern beauty accentuated this theme.

Shobrook was influenced by butterflies, particularly the fact that no two are exactly alike. So, she crafted couture eyelashes for each model, made from the same feathers used on the clothing. As for skin, "I wanted it to look like a light switch turned on," she said. The trick was to make it look glowing, but not greasy, so she mixed together matte foundation and highlighter for the effect of a soft focus light bulb.

Campora wanted the hair to match the shine found in the collection, using gel and lots of glossing cream for an intensely sleek chignon. And for nails, Lippmann followed Chapman's direction that the manicure should look like a continuation of the skin, painting nails with nude lacquer.
