It's good to be a Kardashian: a close-up look at the various places these family members call home

With the help of their ambitious mum-ager Kris Kardashian-Jenner, Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian have built up a new-fangled kind of entertainment dynasty on the back of a couple of high profile pals like Paris Hilton, a lurid sex tape, and a banal but wildly successful reality television show called Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

To be fair, the three siblings co-own a clothing store or two in Calabasas, CA, but it's their reality show(s), ubiquitous presence in the tabloids, and public flaunting of their not exactly stable relationships that has brought Kourtney, Kim and Khloe enough fame and fortune for all of them to live in luxurious homes that are much more expensive than the homes of most doctors, lawyers, teachers and other highly educated professionals.

Thanks to the family's surprisingly successful reality show, her out-sized backside and her romantic entanglements with both US and European football players, Kim Kardashian has pockets so deep she can afford to drive a custom Bentley Continental worth more than $200,000 (£128,000) and can spend well over $3m (£1.9m) on a gated, faux-Tuscan style mansion in the 90210 region of Beverly Hills.

Kim's newly built krib, located in a sleepy cul-de-sac high above Beverly Hills, was originally listed at almost $5m (£3.2m) but was last listed with a hugely reduced asking price of $3.795m (£2.4m). The purchase has yet to be completed and recorded so it's not yet known exactly what Kim paid for the approximately 4,000 sq. ft. house, which includes five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms and five fireplaces - including those in both the formal living room and formal dining room.

The gourmet kitchen features a third fireplace, white cabinetry that stands out against dark walnut hardwood floors, top grade stainless steel appliances and huge windows. French doors open to an alfresco dining terrace and built-in barbecue center.

In addition to the massive master bedroom with custom tiled bathroom, sizable sitting area and the home's fourth fireplace, the two-storey residence also includes a double height entrance hall, a second floor living room with a built-in entertainment centre, family room, formal dining room, and state of the art media room where Kim K. can watch re-runs of her reality show.

The backyard area offers several intimate terraces surrounding the house including an outdoor living room off the family room which includes a fireplace, billowing curtains, stone floors and cascading foliage. A pathway climbs up the lushly planted hillside behind the house where a canopied terrace makes the perfect hideaway for a bit of quiet time.

A huge fountain tumbles down the hillside and pours into the half-circle shaped jacuzzi, which in turns flows into the plunge-sized swimming pool. The garden area also has a large, flat lawn area that will be perfect for any celebrity soiree when Kim does decide to settle down with one of her many suitors.

Last November, Kim's ex Reggie Bush had his Hollywood Hills bachelor pad in on the market at $5.1m (£3.3m). The nearly 5,000 sq. ft., four-bedroom and five and a half-bathroom house is no longer on the open market and does not appear to have been sold.

About the same time Reggie put his house up for sale, Kim K. heaved her Beverly Hills condo on the market with an asking price of $1,099,000 (£702,000), sparking rumours the pair were looking to move in together. Kim bought the three-bedroom, two and a half-bathroom condo in November of 2005 and it was recently sold to songwriter - and frequent Rihanna collaborator - Makeba Riddick, for about $1m (£640,000).

Kim isn't the only Kardashian with a new, multi-million dollar house. Her younger sister Khloe, who married professional basketball player Lamar Odom after just three weeks of dating, recently dumped $3,950,000 (£2.53m) for a new casa in a gated community in Tarzana, CA. The 8,347 sq. ft. quasi-Spanish style mansion has, according to estate agent's information, seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a home theatre, a swimming pool and jacuzzi, barbecue centre and a gigantic gated driveway capable of parking up to 15 cars.

Property records show that Kourtney, the only Kardashian to go to college, bought her condo in a small gated community in Calabasas in July 2006. The apartment, which is just a quick drive to Momma Kardashian's house in Hidden Hills, measures 2,245 sq. ft. and includes two bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's been reported that Kourtney just listed the property at $795,000 (£508,000).

The Jenner/Kardashians have lived for a long while in the gated, horsey and star-studded community of Hidden Hills, CA. In 2009, the family moved from a single story sprawler that was featured on the first few seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians to a newer and bigger mock-Mediterranean mansion in Hidden Hills with 8,860 sq. ft. and six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
