As sun-kissed skin fades and fabrics become heavier and richer, summer's nude palette demands an injection of something more robust to bring complexions alive in the colder months. The solution at shows like Ralph Lauren (left) and Fendi (right) was a palette of neutral tones dusted over skin to give a look that was soft, elegant and nearly natural.
Caramel and honey tones made complexions look good enough to eat at Thakoon (right) while at Etro taupe eyeshadow was taken from lash line to brow for an edgier take on the look.
Nobody does 'no makeup' makeup quite like Jessica Alba. The perfect canvas for neutral tones, her honey-hued complexion is always flawless but with a natural glow shining through. A palette of soft neutrals for eyes, a sweep of blush and high-gloss lips give a look that's polished enough for the red carpet and cool enough for kicking back.
To give eyes subtle definition, smudge a mink or taupe eyeshadow along the crease of the eye, winging out slightly at the outer corners and taking jut beneath the lower lashes fading away towards the middle of the eye.
For a natural outdoorsy flush, use a light bronzer with a rosy hue and sweep it along the cheekbones as well as the apples of the cheeks. Tap your brush on the edge of the lid before applying to avoid product overload.
For a natural looking lip, use a lipstick that's just slightly darker than your natural lip colour, blot with a tissue then dab with a clear lip balm - or for a night-time look slick with tinted gloss.
