In a world first, a clutch of stunt models rappelled down a building on London's Oxford Circus to kick start High Street Fashion Week. Dressed in the latest styles, complete with four-inch heels, the girls wowed onlookers as they made the dramatic drop.

Gimmick or not, there seems to be a trend in redefining the catwalk – just last month an underwater fashion show was staged in Korea. These two feats almost make the TopShop runway at the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station for the upcoming London Fashion Week look passé. We did say almost. High Street Fashion Week, which celebrates our favourite shops and brands, was also given a boost with the Glammy awards held on Monday. Hosted by T4 presenter and rising style star Jameela Jamil, the awards were given out to the best high street brands following a public vote. And the winners are:
A/W 10 looks
French Connection

Perfect Plus Size - Best for size 14+
Debenhams Eco-Warrior - Best for ethical green living
People Tree Finishing Touch - Best accessory
Office Fabulous 40 - Best for women over 40
BHS Boy Wonder – Best menswear
Moss Bros Dream Dressing Room - Best dressing room and level of service
John Lewis Power Window - Most inspirational window
Selfridges High Street Fashion Week runs until 10 September
