François Nars is bringing the glamour back to lipstick.
The makeup artist and brand founder has launched a brand new Pure Matte lipstick line, with an accompanying one-minute-long short film that features model Heather Marks.
Dressed in a floor-length vintage Gucci gown, Marks wears the lipstick in a bold, red Vesuvio shade. Curved kaleidoscopic and infinity mirrors create close-up profile shots that would make Norma Desmond jealous, while dramatic electro-acoustic music by Polish artist Michal Jacaszek echoes hauntingly in the background.
Makeup lovers can also visit the Nars Facebook page where selecting 'like' will open up exclusive content on the lipstick launch.
It's all très French, and exceptionally François Nars from start to finish.
It has been over 15 years since the celeb-favoured artist launched a new lipstick line. And if it has been ages since you last whipped out your own lipstick bullet, Nars has advice on how to choose your perfect shade.
"A matte lip is very modern, whether nude or deeply pigmented. Try a colour close to your skin tone for a universally flattering look," says Nars. "Pair darker hues with a fresh complexion and little makeup. But always choose a formula that has hydrating ingredients to condition lips."

The new line of lipsticks feature shades of aubergine, rose, red, nude, and plum and boast vitamin E, acai oil and wild mango butter for a silky feel that glides on and conditions lips.
And with names like Bangkok, Vesuvio and Volga, it's clear that Monsieur Nars is quite the jet-setter.
Previous partnerships have included client and Brit "it" girl Daphne Guinness, whose twirl on the red carpet in sky-scraping Alexander McQueen heels at the launch of Nars' book earlier this year raised more than a few eyebrows.
