We asked top hairstylist Sam McKnight to spill his summer styling secrets. From how to control frizz in humid weather to simple summer styling tricks. Plus, watch Sam create the speediest holiday updo to take you from the beach to the bar in our exclusive summer styling video.

How do you suggest keeping hair looking fresh, healthy and frizz-free in the humid summer months?

"Maintaining gorgeous hair is often about knowing how to adapt to the elements and not letting harmful UV rays and humidity get in the way. I would recommend using Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Shampoo and Conditioner; it not only gives your hair volume but also helps protect it from the 'Cycle of Damage', which is caused by women in their pursuit of volume.

One of my top tips for the summer months to prevent hair looking limp is to use a strong hold hairspray; a hot humid atmosphere can cause your style to wilt half way through the night, so to keep hair in place, try Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Magnification Hairspray (Ultra Strong) to give your style staying power.

Finally to prevent frizz, I would recommend using Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Serum, it's great at creating straight, smooth hair that knows its place throughout the day."

We love your summer styling updo in the video (below), but what is the best way to style hair and leave it down in the summer?

A great look for this summer is beachy waves. Start with a volumising shampoo and conditioner then divide the hair up into sections and apply Pantene Pro-V Magnifying Mousse all the way to the tip to add hold and texture, and then blow dry hair smooth.

Using tongs to create the loose waves, repeat in different directions all over the head. To finish, spray with Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Hairspray to hold, and work hands through hair to loosen curls. Also a top tip of mine when tonging hair, start at the root and twist hair along the barrel downwards, leaving the very ends free, and hold for max 2-3 seconds.

What are the must-have hair products/items that you need to pack on your travels or in your festival kit?

My must-have hair products to take on holiday or as a part of your festival kit would be Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Mini Shampoo and Conditioner.

Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek offers a solution to this issue, smoothing the hair surface and helping to reduce frizz and in the mini size it's perfect for travelling. Also Batiste Dry Shampoo is a must have.

A great look for the warmer months is to braid the front section of your hair which acts as a natural hair band. It's also a nice way to achieve natural looking highlights. It's also a great transitional look, which can take you from day to night.

If someone wants a dramatic hair change this summer, what cuts/styles would you recommend/are popular now?

The s/s 2010 catwalks saw several key hair looks emerge. As usual, there is not one key hair trend this season but in keeping with the eclectic mix of fashion trends; the hair looks were disparate, from effortless long luxe to the elegant pin-up being particularly popular this season.
