SNAPSHOT: Beautiful otherwordly beings

THE SCOOP: Todd Lynn's s/s 2011 collection was inspired by the idea of snakes shedding their skin and the beauty of otherworldly beings. Building on those themes, both the hair and makeup went for a feeling of slightly surreal beauty. "We didn't want otherworldly and odd, we still wanted them to be really beautiful," explained Mac's lead makeup artiest Sally Branka. To achieve that she decided to do "skin that was super beautiful but we have also added a product that makes it look like glass under the lights."

As for the hair, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck's said "the goal was to get the two toned look." The structure of the clothes also played a key role in the creation of the 'do. "Lots of them are very high on the neck so we wanted to do something that was up and off the face."

GET THE LOOK MAKEUP: To achieve this glassy look start with Mac's Face and Body Foundation and then apply Old Gold Pigment. For the show the shimmer was put all over the face, to take the look off the catwalk stick to cheekbone highlights and a dash around the eyes. For the lips start with Mac's Powersurge Eye Pencil and then layer Cream Colour Base in Pearl and finally finishen them with a touch of Golden Lemon Pigment.

GET THE LOOK HAIR: The hair at Todd Lynn's looks rather tricky but broken into steps it is achievable. Start by applying Label.m Volume Mousse and Dry Shampoo. Next split the hair in two sections securing the bottom half into a low ponytail. Back comb the top half to create volume and then tie that into a second ponytail. Secure the two together before twisting up the legnth of the ponytail into a rope. To create the all important second tone, mix Label.m Gel and Holding Gloss together and paint it on to the first inch or two of the hair.
