Paris Fashion Week: Day Five

Paris Fashion Week: Day Five

Justin Timberlake hits the Paris fashion scene, John Galliano paints a portrait for spring and Phoebe Philo can do wrong. Here are the highlights from day five of the Paris shows...

Model moment: Yasmin Le Bon made a return to the (gold, mirrored) catwalk at John Galliano's show, where each look was envisaged as a different painting of mysterious muse, Maria Lani, by the likes of Matisse and Chagall. Daywear included sheer trench coats and wide-leg trousers, while for evening, there were delicate Asian prints and sheer silk embroidered gowns. As ever, Galliano has made the stuff of runway fantasy a reality.

In the jungle: Riccardo Tisci's Gothic girls at Givenchy - all floaty chiffon and draping layers - went wild for spring with leopard print (sometimes enlarged, sometimes embroidered and sometimes everywhere). Punky zips zig-zagging across dresses and up trouser seams also added to the tough attitude of the collection.

Sportswear crush: It seems the whole world has fallen hard for Phoebe Philo's sophisticated yet accessible vision at Celine. For spring, the clean, modern silhouettes that have become her trademark were livened up with artisanal touches and industrial references. As for her take on one of spring's key items, the white shirt? It came boho-style and sleeveless or crisp and linear.

Sister act: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen had to cancel their fashion week show in New York due to sample delays, so the duo showed their spring collection of tailored jackets and loose maxi dresses in pale pink, white and black in an intimate setting in Paris.

Italian Riviera: For spring, Alexis Mabille conjured up an image of sun-kissed, Italian holiday style, for the woman who doesn't do dressed-down: oversized fishnets, shoulder-grazing earrings and ruffle, lace, cotton eyelet and bow-embellished dresses for day or night.

Feeling Glee-ful: Lea Michele was the guest of honour at a Glamour magazine dinner in Paris over the weekend.. The starlet looked gorgeous in a pale pink dress by Victoria Beckham and was joined by designers including Pierre Hardy, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez, Peter Copping and Peter Dundas.

Celeb spotting: Justin Timberlake, Courtney Love, Ronnie Wood, Lily Allen and Liv Tyler were all at Givenchy, while Janet Jackson and Lenny Kravitz checked out Galliano. Meanwhile, Katie Grand brought some London love to Paris with a dinner for Loewe's Stuart Vevers and guests like Abbey Clancy and Pixie Geldof, while Karl Lagerfeld celebrated his capsule collection for Hogan with a film, which Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes, Stephen Dorff, Rupert Everett and Jackson all attended.
