Diary Of A 6-Year-Old: Before Father Christmas

In the old days they didn't have Father Christmas! They told us all about it in school. There wasn't a Father Christmas or a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or a Dasher or Donner or, well, the other reindeers. I think one of them was dancing or something.

There was a baby who was born a long, long time ago, even longer ago than when grandma was born! He was born right on Christmas Day. They said he was special but I'm glad it wasn't me.

That means his birthday and Christmas are on the same day, like Lucas Woods. Everybody knows that's bad because you don't really get a birthday party for yourself. Lucas says it's okay because it's like everybody is having a party on your birthday. I'm not sure though.

Even though there was no Father Christmas the baby got presents anyway because some men came on camels to bring them. I thought they must have been elves but Emily said they were too big.

Also, Rudolph wasn't there to light things up with his nose so they had a big, bright star so they could see where they were going on the camels and so the baby could see what his presents though.

His presents didn't sound very good though.

He didn't get any Lego or a bike.
