Two-Month-Old Baby Killed In Horror Smash. Driver Fled The Scene

A two-month-old baby boy has been killed in a horror crash in the West Midlands.

He was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla which was involved in a collision with a Mitsubishi Evolution on a busy dual carriageway at around 6pm on Saturday night.

The baby was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital suffering from multiple injuries, but later died. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said : 'Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews and hospital staff, nothing could be done to save the child.'

The four people travelling in the Mitsubishi fled the scene before the emergency services arrived. The police later revealed the vehicle was unregistered. They are currently hunting the driver, and are appealing for witnesses. Sergeant Ferris Hatheson said: 'We are appealing for any of those in the Mitsubishi to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible. Anyone who has any information in relation to their identity should also contact us.'

A female passenger from the Toyota was in a critical condition in hospital, whilst two men and another woman were treated for minor injuries.
