Diary Of A 6-Year-Old: Can Father Christmas Hear Ok?

I've been thinking about it and Father Christmas must be very, very old. Great Grandma Edith was really old before she died. She looked like she had been in the bath for ages! She was so old that she couldn't see properly, even with her glasses. She used to hold the newspaper as far away from her face as she could, which I didn't really understand. One day I asked her why she didn't just hold it nearer if she couldn't see but she just laughed and said I might understand when I get older. I don't like it when old people say that. It makes me feel a bit silly. And anyway I'm six now and I still don't know what she meant.

Great Grandma Edith also had a special machine in her ear to help her listen to people because she was a bit deaf. But that didn't seem to work either. It whistled all the time. That made Scruff her little dog come running into the lounge but she still couldn't hear what you were saying. She couldn't see the dog either. Scruff always ended up eating his food off the floor because she kept missing his bowl.

Scruff is dead now. So is Great Grandma Edith. But Father Christmas isn't dead because he is magic and he is asnorkel. That means he can't ever die, like Scruff did. But if he is so old and he can't see very well, will he have been able to read my letter? Mummy says if he can't see so well Mother Christmas probably reads out the letters to him. But if his hearing machine is as rubbish as Granny Edith's then he won't be able to hear her and I think we are all in trouble then.
