While some designers would like you to embrace new frontiers trend this season, others would prefer to put you in a more romantic mood. Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, Dior, Ralph Lauren, Alexander McQueen, and Marc Jacobs all showed their softer side with flowing chiffon, lace and silk reminiscent of the 1930s.

Dreamers, poets and stargazers alike will feel at home in this season's loose fitting, flowing silhouettes. We're loving the diaphanous fabrics, frothy frills and ruffles, strategic use of feathers, and delicate lacy embellishments.

Again, layering is key, but instead of chunky knits and faux fur, opt for delicate fabrics in nude and muted pastel tones, like ivory, lavender, cream, and apricot. Finish the look off with ropes of pearls, or other colourful baubles, and a rich, wine-stained lip. Time to get shopping!,feedConfig,localizationConfig,entry&id=952672&pid=952671&uts=1289375326

A floaty, layered dress, such as this New Look frock, ticks all the boxes. Give it some edge with a pair of lace up boots, or channel the trend completely with sparkly heels.

Vintage baubles evoke oldy worldy charm, so raid your grandmother's jewellery box, or let someone else do it for you. The designer behind Shirley May has recreated a whole collection of unique pieces from her nan's huge personal collection. We particularly love this jaguar necklace.

You have to be careful with feathers – too much and it can start to look like fancy dress, which is why we love to add them to our accessories. Plumage looks great on shoes, but we love it on handbags too.
