This time last year, Carey Mulligan was just emerging on the fashion scene. Now, she's Elle's latest covergirl.

Sporting a Céline jersey dress, her trademark pixie crop and minimal makeup, the actress looks naturally gorgeous on the cover of the January edition.

She continues to wow in her photoshoot for the magazine too. Dressed in Stella McCartney and Holly Fulton, the simple black and white pictures portray a young star who is going places.

In her interview with Elle, it's clear that Mulligan has worked hard to get where she is now. She also speaks openly about her body image, and the pressures that come with being in the public eye. While she admits that she has "always felt different", Mulligan doesn't let this interfere with her career. After dismissing botox as the "antithesis to what I'm trying to do as an actress", she says, "I'm not trying to sell myself as visual. I'm selling my willingness to play a part really well. If you're body doesn't look normal, how can you convey normal people, how can you be relatable?"

Mulligan has certainly got her priorities straight and we have to say, she conveys normal and relatable better than most on this Elle cover. To read the full interview, see the January edition of Elle out now, or visit elleuk.com.
