My Stylish Life: Mel B

My Stylish Life: Mel B

Mel B has come a long way since her Scary Spice days. Known for her Northern no-nonsense attitude, her big mouth was a huge part of the Spice Girl's gobsmacking success, racking up worldwide record sales of 55 million, and a Guinness Book of World Records status for most No. 1 entries in the UK charts and most consecutive No. 1's for a new act.

Fitness First

At 35, she's not lost her touch at causing a stir, showing off her new image and better-than-ever figure as a former face and body of lingerie brand Ultimo by turning up at showbiz events in skin-tight leggings and plunging catsuits. If we looked like that, we'd make the most of it, too.

Her latest projects see her fronting a new set of full body workout classes for Fitness First. And baring all in her own reality TV show Mel B: It's A Scary World about family life in LA where she lives with producer Stephen Belafonte, and children Phoenix, 11, and three-year-old Angel (whose dad is Eddy Murphy).

We had a quick chat to the 35-year-old about happiness, health and vintage Armani.

You have a gorgeous body and glow: how do you do it?

I exercise regularly to feel and look good. As well as doing my workouts, I like to get out into the Hollywood hills for a hike or jog. Teaming regular exercise with eating healthily and laughing lots is the best way to glow.

A healthy diet is important to you, isn't it?

I think balance is important. I eat healthily - egg-whites with turkey, and salmon and salad, for example - Monday to Friday and then have the weekend off. That way I can still have the things I really love, in moderation.

How do you chill?

I find the best way to relax and chill out is by spending time with my family. We love to get together in our movie theatre at home with lots of popcorn and just hang out.

How do you keep up your positive, go-get-'em attitude? Where does it come from?

I think I've just always been like that, full of energy and enthusiastic!

What's your advice to women who want more confidence?

Start to workout! It makes you feel good about yourself and really lifts your spirit.

What or who makes you happy?

My husband and kids.

What little things are you grateful for?

My family and the small things like when my girls make me a Mother's Day card.

What did you most get out of being a Spice Girl? How did it change you?

I got the opportunity to travel the world with four of my best friends. What could be more amazing?!

What's the biggest lesson life has taught you?

To simply enjoy it while you can because you never know what might happen.

What item should every woman have in their wardrobe?

A pair of Christian Louboutins

Best outfit that you've ever worn?

Any of Charlotte Spade's dresses.

Who are your favourite designers?

Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana.

What is your most extravagant tailor-made purchase?

I had a vintage Giorgio Armani sparkly grey dress made to fit. It was gorgeous!
