BAFTAs: Red Carpet Predictions

The BAFTAs are coming! This Sunday evening, the stars will be out in force for the biggest UK awards show, and we predict a glittering red carpet. We couldn't resist imagining what the celebrities will be wearing for the big event.

Check out what we think the leading ladies will (or rather should!) be wearing...

BAFTAs: Red carpet predictions

The actress has been flaunting her growing baby bump in a variety of designers, from Azzaro (left, at the SAG Awards) to Viktor & Rolf, on the red carpet this season. And why not? Since she's sweeping up award after award, it's certainly Natalie's time to shine on the red carpet.

Before Black Swan, Benjamin Millepied and pregnancy, Natalie Portman was still a style force to be reckoned with. Her preferred designer? Alber Elbaz. The designer's sexy-but-never-overtly-so, super-feminine silhouettes at Lanvin used to be Natalie's red carpet staple and we think she should return to her leading man as she (potentially) picks up another award for leading lady. Plus, this look on the left is definitely baby bump-friendly.

Amy Adams has been flaunting her red carpet prowess in looks from Marchesa (left, at the Golden Globes), Herve Leroux, Valentino and Andrew Gn, among others, this awards season. She's definitely started experimenting with a more diverse colour palette and is playing around with sexier silhouettes.

Carolina Herrera created Amy Adams' maternity wardrobe (if only we were all so lucky), and we think Adams would look fabulous in pretty much any frock from Herrera's stunning chinoiserie-detailed spring 2011 collection. We especially love the idea of her in this vibrant pink frock at left - elegant perfection that would look amazing against Adams' colouring.

With her fiery red locks and amazing complexion, Julianne Moore is in the enviable position of being able to pull off pretty much anything she wants to on the red carpet. She looked stunning in vibrant Lanvin at the Golden Globes, and we're betting she steps out in buddy Tom Ford's much-lauded spring 2011 collection any day now. But for the BAFTAs, we'd like to see her in another of her favourite labels...

BAFTAs: Red carpet predictions

Julianne Moore is always a front-row fixture at Francisco Costa's Calvin Klein shows and the clean, minimalist silhouettes appeal to the actress, who often opts for simple chic. We think she'd look superb and understated in one of the spring frocks, like this halter version at left.

The Rising Star Award nominee loves to go dramatic on the red carpet, and has already sported some of the biggest names in fashion like Lanvin, Gucci, Valentino and Elie Saab (left, at the Prince of Persia L.A. premiere) on the red carpet. We'd love to see her try something that shows off her tough edge as well as her feminine style, though...

We know it's a long shot but we think Gemma would look completely brilliant in Haider Ackermann's pyjama party-ready spring looks, which editors are in raptures over. The mix of delicacy and fierceness feels very Gemma to us (why else did G Star pick her as its new face?) and she would be able to rock any of these outfits with aplomb.

Not only is she a super-talented actress at the tender age of 14, but Hailee Steinfeld is also a savvy red-carpet dresser. She keeps her looks age-appropriate (like this Prabal Gurung number at left) and also has fun with fashion - her Prada frock at the SAG Awards was one of the night's top hits.

BAFTAs: Red carpet predictions

We think one of bright, ladylike looks from Proenza Schouler's spring collection would be perfect on Hailee. The Supporting Actress nominee would certainly look the part of a leading lady in this sweetheart frock!
