DESIGNER: Tommy Hilfiger.

INSPIRATION: Girlfriends of 1970s rock stars.

WHO WAS THERE: Russell Simmons, Petra Nemcova and Rosario Dawson; Ally Hilfiger and, behind her in the second row, business partner Nary Manivong.

TOP LOOKS: Velvet blazers with pinstripe trousers; pinstripe suits (for the ladies!); breezy dresses with vintage-y patterns; hearty cable-knit sweaters and peacoats.

ACCESSORIES: Floppy hats à la Anita Pallenberg, needlepoint pumps, sandals and sling-backs.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Although the preppy market is Tommy Hilfiger's bread and butter, this season he presented his classics with a rock 'n' roll twist. The '70s music scene is a designer's dream idiom to work within, and Hilfiger his mark with clothes that oozed laid-back style. The vibe rang true for everything from the silk pajama-top-and-pants combos to various check and pinstripe suits. Modern-day Bianca Jaggers, strut your stuff.
