INSPIRATION: A 1940s-meets-1970s silhouette, inspired by Faye Dunaway and Florence Welch.

TOP LOOKS: The asymmetrical mustard and sheer black dress, a sexy purple chiffon slit frock, a bordeaux-hued leather trench, and all of the jewel-coloured fox fur stoles.

WHO WAS THERE: Being the kick-off show of Milan Fashion Week, the main editors were there but we didn't spot any front row celebs. Not to worry - there will be plenty over the next week.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Giannini is more than confident with luxe '70s dressing, and the pussybow blouses, fur-collared jackets and tailored trousers offered the discerning customer plenty for day. Starlets will get the chance to wear the sexy, sheer, thigh-slit asymmetrical and halter dresses on the red carpet while those of us who can only hope for a Gucci accessory will have plenty to aspire towards next season, with waist-cinching snakeskin belts, dainty multicoloured snakeskin handbags, ankle strap stilettos and jewel-toned Trilbys topping our wish lists.
