Pregnant soap star Kym Marsh has revealed she is 'terrified' her pregnancy will end in miscarriage.
The 34-year-old actress is 26 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. In 2009 she and partner Jamie Lomas suffered the tragic death of their baby boy, Archie, who was born at just 21 weeks and died minutes after delivery.
Speaking to Now magazine, Kym said she and Jamie we 'so scared' they'd lose their little girl:
'It's been really difficult.
'I have been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, which is when your cervix is too weak to stay closed during pregnancy due to the extra weight of the baby.
'It can cause premature birth or late miscarriage.
'This time around I was a high risk patient and I've been monitored closely.'
Kym, who has two children, David, 15 and Emily, 13, from a previous relationship, underwent an operation at 17 weeks to stitch her cervix. Her baby is due in May, and she is currently on maternity leave from Coronation Street.
She said the baby was a real 'wriggler' and a 'fighter':
'She's been a right little wriggler since 17 weeks. I know she's a little fighter and I know she'll be causing us havoc before long!'
