Baby Born In Loo After Midwives Failed To Recognise Mum's Labour

Yet another mum has delivered her baby in a hospital toilet after midwives allegedly failed to recognise she was in labour.

Vicki Carr, 27, from Canvey Island, Essex, had been admitted to Southend Hospital after suffering from what she believed to be labour pains.

Nursing staff however decided she was suffering from a urine infection, and was given blood tests and painkillers.

Miss Carr's mother heard her daughter screaming from a toilet cubicle and rushed in just as the newborn was about to be delivered into the lavatory bowl. She shocked granny said: "I lifted her off the toilet and the baby came out."

Miss Carr had given birth to a baby girl, who she named Lacie.

A hospital spokesperson said it was 'concerned' to hear of Miss Carr's experiences, and was launching an investigation.
