DESIGNER: Jean Paul Gaultier

INSPIRATION: The women on the catwalk were in striptease mode, and judging by the silver beehives, these were women in their prime.

TOP LOOKS: Given the strip theme, it's perhaps no surprise that the most memorable items on the runway included beautifully cut trenchcoats with leather panels, slinky soft leather pencil skirts and pussy bow blouses.

ACCESSORIES: A couple of very chic granny-style shopping trollies, plus a generous sprinkling of elbow-length gloves.

WHO WAS THERE: The French comedienne, Valerie Lemercier, 46,opened the show, while gender bending catwalk star Andrej Pejic was also on the runway.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Rumours have been circulating that Jean Paul Gaultier, now footloose and fancy free following his departure from Hermès, is in prime position to take over at Dior. But here, it was business as usual, and the designer did what he does best; beautifully cut classic Parisian pieces, with just a hint of kink.
