Catwalk Review: Erdem A/W 2011/12

Catwalk Review: Erdem A/W 2011/12

DESIGNER: Erdem Moralioglu

INSPIRATION: The idea of an artist's wife who smashes up his canvases, and recreates them as a collage of colour and pattern.

TOP LOOKS: The shift dress took centre stage on this catwalk, with digital abstract prints in kaleidoscope colours, which, although absent of Erdem's famous flowers, still reflected nature: sunsets, gems, oceans. Buttoned-up blouses, stylish trench coats, and red carpet-worthy maxi dresses (Oscars, anyone?), also flooded the catwalk with beautiful fragmented shards of colour.

ACCESSORIES: Fierce ankle boots by Nicholas Kirkwood

WHO WAS THERE: Alexa Chung, Samantha Cameron, Olivia Palermo, and Jacquetta Wheeler

WHAT WE THOUGHT: The striking palette of rich colours blew us away, while the shift silhouettes and maxi dresses were oh-so-wearable. Less whimsical than usual, with a move away from his signature floral roots, but we liked it.
