Fashion's grande dame created one of the most memorable wedding dresses of all time for Carrie Bradshaw's nuptials to Mr. Big in the first Sex & the City film. Largely inspired by screen sirens of the '40s and '50s, Temperley London's bridal collection is for the free-spirited bride (think boho chick Milla Jovovich walking down the aisle in a Temperley goddess dress and gold diadem). The collection includes a range of silhouettes to suit a variety of tastes and body types, including cap sleeves, low backs and empire waists, as well as a selection of rabbit, lace and feather capes - perfect for keeping you covered on a cooler night. For a classic bride who doesn't want a lot of extra embellishment on her big day, Beverly Lister is the designer to turn to. Her creations are simple and elegant, made from top-quality fabrics like silk duchesse satin and Chantilly lace. We love the splashes of colour in the spring collection, like the dark sash on the Chapel gown (left, £1,950). Launched in 1991, Lister's creations are designed, made and hand-finished in the UK. The flagship store is in Surrey, but there are stockists around the country.

With a celebrity fan club that includes the likes of Queen Rania of Jordan, Jemima Khan, the late Princess Diana and someone in Kate Middleton's entourage, it's no surprise that Bruce Oldfield's name has become synonymous with exclusive bridal wear. These dresses are for the bride who wants the ultimate high society wedding, with an elaborate, sophisticated gown.
