'Baby Showers Are So Last Trimester': Sip And See Parties Are The New Baby Trend

Call me crabby and out of date, but after I gave birth I wanted to cocoon with my baby and my husband. I wanted to eat vast amounts and do nothing more laborious that watch US TV re-runs in between endless feeds.

What I most definitely did not want to do was play hostess with the mostest days after giving birth.

But according to American website Yeah Baby (impossible to say without putting on an Austin Powers accent!), the new baby trend taking the US by storm is sip and see - when proud parents show off their gorgeous new offspring in their immaculate house while cracking open bottles of champagne.

Yeah right. (No Austin accent necessary there.) It took me the best part of a year to organise christenings. And husband's role in the early weeks of a newborn baby was to allow a steady flow of have-to-come visitors through the door for a cup of tea at most - and out as soon as possible.

I can't think of anything worse than having a party when you're both bone tired. But, as The Guardian says: 'It's only a matter of time before the phenomenon crosses the Atlantic - baby showers are just so last trimester'.

So maybe Sip n See parties could be a good thing after all!
