Tommy, nine, and Alisha, six, died with their brother Rocco, four, and sister Appolonia, two, after flames engulfed their family home in the village of Hulland Ward, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

The children's mother, Rachael Henson, 45, tried to get back inside to rescue the children. The children were upstairs when the fire broke out. Mrs Henson is in a stable condition, and believed to be conscious, after being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.

Emergency services were called at around 11.30pm on Monday.Tommy and Appolonia were carried out of the semi-detached house by firefighters but later died in hospital. Alisha and Rocco were found inside.

The cause of the blaze remains a mystery and a joint probe by police and fire investigators is under way.
