Rio Ferdinand Baby Dash: Star Races 200 Miles To See Daughter Born

PA

Rio Ferdinand made a 200 miles motorway dash to be at the birth of his third baby this weekend.

Rio, who plays for Manchester United, dashed from the team's London hotel to be at wife Rebecca's bedside as she gave birth to their daughter.

He then raced back down to London in time for Manchester United's Wembley clash with Manchester City.

Rebecca, 30, gave birth in an NHS hospital in Wythenshawe, the same maternity unit in which she delivered the couple's two sons, Lorenz, four, and Tate, two.

Rio later tweeted the happy news, thanking the hospital, and revealing his new daughter's name, writing:

'We had a baby girl named Tia Ferdinand! Want to thank the ambulance service+all the Wythenshawe Hospital staff for helping my baby arrive safely.'

What a sweet story - and how lovely to read about footballers behaving nicely!

Did your partner have a race against time to see his baby born?

Did you go into labour whilst your other half was miles away?
