It was a fashionable feast for the eyes - sprinkled with the odd ill-judged ensemble - as stars including Madonna, Beyonce and Rihanna stepped out for the Met Ball in New York, which this year honoured the life of the late designer Alexander McQueen.
The red carpet event marked the opening of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sarah Burton, the creative director of the fashion house following Lee McQueen's tragic death, was also in attendance fresh from her regal triumph designing the royal wedding dress.
