Queen Takes Prince Edward's Kids For A Ride

PA

A doting granny was spotted out with her grandchildren enjoying a horse ride recently.

The elderly lady was kitted out in traditional riding gear topped off with a natty head-scarf, whilst her young charges sported a slightly more modern look in polo shirts and fleeces.

'Granny' was actually the Queen enjoying a hack through a bluebell glade in Windsor Great Park with Lady Louise, seven, (who was recently bridesmaid to Prince William and Kate Middleton) and James, Viscount Severn, three years old. They're the children of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

The Queen was reported to be so delighted with the snap - taken on Easter Monday - that she agreed to it being used to publicise the Windsor horse show, which starts today.

Glossing over the fact she is not wearing a riding hat (naughty queen) she does look amazing for 85, doesn't she?
