Following months and months of speculation, our Contributing Editor Dannii Minogue has confirmed that she will NOT be returning to our screens as an X Factor judge later this year:

"I am so disappointed that I can't be a part of The X Factor this year. I'm going to miss the show and the amazing team who work so incredibly hard on it."

Danni began filming the fifth series of Australia's Got Talent in January and returns to her homeland in a couple of weeks to continue with the semi and grand finals.

"During discussions for me to return [to The X Factor] it became clear that unfortunately, this year, the X Factor audition dates in the UK clash with the live shows of Australia's Got Talent during June and July. For this reason I am unable to return. I want to wish the new judges every success for this year's show, and can't wait to see who the British public choose as their next big star. Thanks to everyone who has shown me so much love and support, and brought me so much joy during my four incredible years working on the show."

With no Dannii and the departure of Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole to the US, there is now even more speculation over who will be occupying the judging chairs for series eight of The X Factor here in the UK. The only judge to be confirmed so far is Gary Barlow.

Dannii, who joined The X Factor in 2007, has been a winning mentor twice: once with Leon Jackson and again only a few months ago with the gorgeous Matt Cardle.

"'Team Minogue' will continue to fly a flag later this year when the amazingly talented, and last year's winner, Matt Cardle releases his debut album."

I'm sure you're all as upset as we are that the much-loved Dannii, who over the last twelve months has been named 'Most Popular Judge', 'Celeb of The Year' and 'TV Personality of the Year', is not returning to her judging seat. Not only did she become the only judge we could trust and count on, she also became a style queen. Let's take a look back at Dannii's amazing looks from the last few series.

Dannii will be missed, but we know our Contributing Editor has plenty more up her sleeve for the rest of this year!
