Eat your heart out Michelle Obama. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy stepped out to reclaim her crown as most fashionable First Lady yesterday, as the world leaders descended on France for the G8 summit.

Having just confirmed what we'd all been suspecting for a while - that she's expecting her first child with French President Nicolas Sarkozy - Carla showed off her burgeoning baby bump in two equally chic outfits.

First up, and the 43-year-old was all smiles for the waiting photographers in a simple white shift dress, teamed with an elegant flared dress coat.

Famed for her love of kitten heels, the statuesque former model finished off the look with some dainty black pumps.

For her second maternity moment, Carla kept her styling simple in an above-the-knee LBD, accessorising with droplet earrings, a tiny box clutch and strappy sandals.
