As soon as we found out that Angelina Jolie was to be the new face of Louis Vuitton, we just knew that the resulting ad campaign was going to be something special...
And how right we were. The first image, released today, is a stunning shot of Ms Jolie against a backdrop of Cambodian marshland.
Sat barefoot on a traditional wooden boat, Angelina is pictured dressed casually in khakis, with a large vintage LV Alto holdall draped over her shoulder - a bag the actress has owned herself for many years.
Entitled 'Core Values', the campaign was shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz in Cambodia - a country with which Angelina has close ties.
The campaign tagline reads: "A single journey can change the course of a life. Cambodia, May 2011."
The back-to-basics image is in stark contrast to other recent Louis Vuitton ad campaigns - starring most-notably Madonna, as well as a series of high-profile supermodels - which were decidedly more decadent and luxurious in feel.
"We are honoured that Angelina Jolie agreed to participate in our Core Values campaign, whose central theme of travel as both a physical and emotional journey is one with which she can personally identify," says Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications
"Angelina Jolie is a global star in every sense - not only in her career as an actress, but also in her long-term commitment to international humanitarian issues."
But the best part? The entire fee that the Angelina would get from shooting this campaign, is being donated to charity...
