Tracey Emin is set to reveal her personal tastes in a new installation, in which art and shopping collide at Selfridges.
For the Walking Around My World project, to be hosted by the world famous retailer's London flagship store from 22 June, Emin will take over the Concept Store, home to installations and temporary themed shops, in Selfridges' Wonder Room, and fill it with a surprising mix of her favourite items from the London store.
Emin's picks will give visitors a new insight into the controversial artist's lifestyle and tastes. Unsurprisingly for those who already know of Emin's love of furry animals (and cats in particular), they will feature prominently, as does her own beloved cat, Docket. Other items such as Cath Kidston knitted characters or the presence of Selfridges' resident mediums, Psychic Sisters are perhaps more unexpected.
In a new departure Emin, in collaboration with Thomas Goode fine bone china, has created an exclusive edition of 100 Picasso-inspired plates, using a never-before-seen drawing.
She has also been given carte blanche by Selfridges to fill five of the store's largest windows surrounding the Concept Store. Keep your eyes peeled for some giant photography and a new neon artwork, a nod to the artist's current blockbuster exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, London - her first ever major retrospective, which runs until 21 August 2011.
