Sorry - I get some pretty far out stuff onto the US site, but I've had several perfectly reasonable posts and corrections blocked by moderators on the UK site. Very disappointing - and what does get through is the one-liner Daily Mail reaction. Step up, moderators, let's see the US quality of debate here too!

Oh cool! A third country! I can't wait until there's a Huffington Post in every nation on the globe! I wonder what Huffington Post China would be allowed to post, given Chinese Internet censorship... and if they would actually have it in Chinese, or just have all versions of the site in English.

Your excitement and enthusiasm for Huffpost are shared, but your worries are misplaced.
What, you think China never had a national newspaper? or have journalists, and Chinese contents? ... maybe not yet bloggers. C'mon, get serious, and swallow a bit of humility.
Of course there'll be taboo subjects in the Chinese culture and national political context,
no different from any other country in the world that has a culture and history and political sensitivities. [... Just try to openly probe into who REALLY assass'nated President John F. Kennedy, ... and see how far you would get.]

It's taken for granted the taboo subjects will be different in different cultures,
and political sensitivities will vary, depending on historical, cultural and political contexts.
To discuss that subject as though in a vacuum where one automatically and implicitly assumes one's own perspective is unquestionably the universal standard is myopic, naive and maybe arrogant. Maybe I've misunderstood your concerns, but they appeared to be misplaced.
