Amusing children during the school holidays will result in millions of parents getting into debt, according to a survey.
A fifth of mums and dads are expecting to overspend by an average of £558 after blowing £2,274 on their kids over the break, the poll found.
Staggeringly, a third of parents plan to SELL gadgets, toys, DVDs and furniture to cover the costs, whilst a fifth will have already worked overtime to earn more money in time for the school holidays.
Worryingly though, a further fifth say they will splash the cash or flex the plastic and simply worry about the cost of it all later.
Despite this, three-quarters of youngsters will still moan about being bored in the six-week break.
TV service Freesat asked 2,000 parents with children under 12 in the survey.
Commenting on the findings, Psychologist Geoff Beattie said quality family time was more important than spending money, saying: It's important for parents to think about what they can afford. Extravagant days out don't guarantee happiness. The secret to a really happy day can be a lot simpler and a lot cheaper."
