New 'Made In Britain' Logo Unveiled

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- A campaign for a new Made in Britain marque for products manufactured in this country has produced a logo after receiving an "overwhelming response" from the public.

Kitchen appliance manufacturer Stoves is leading the campaign after research earlier this year showed that half of consumers were confused about which brands could still claim to be made in Britain.

Denver Hewlett, chief executive of Stoves, said: "We have been overwhelmed by the response to the Made in Britain campaign, with widespread interest, a mention in the House of Commons and many other UK manufacturers showing their support. There is clearly an appetite for a standard marque."

He continued: "We think that this logo really captures the essence of the campaign and will proudly be displaying it on our website and marketing material and encouraging other UK manufacturers to do the same."

The marque is designed to be used by British manufacturers on their marketing material, websites and products to help consumers understand the origins of the goods they are buying.

A survey of 1,000 people earlier this year found that more than a third would buy British goods more often if it was easier to identify the country of origin.

Now some products to put it on. Unfortunately, if your country is like the USA, Chinese products won't count.

Ooh, little trinkets. How delightful. And you're going to put little badges on them too? How positively splendid. I think it's great that -- decades after you intentionally stopped mining coal and building ships -- you're going to let the whole world know that you still make a miniscule amount of crap through the use of elaborate badges. Fantastic.

I suppose, when a nation is reduced from imperial power to manufacturing less than the DPRK, this is what the bottom looks like.

All well and good but on what are they going to place the logo?

Looks like a Tory party logo.

Maybe it's the cover for the new UB40?

Well its a heck of a lot more sensible than the 2012 Olympic logo, which I suppose doesn't really say a lot.

Maybe the United States needs a new "Made in USA" logo. Oh wait, we don't make anything in the US any more; everything's been outsourced. I forgot.

It's the same here. most of the souvenirs flogged to the onlookers at the recent Royal Nuptuals, where made in China.

Many years ago a town in Japan renamed itself 'USA' so its products could be marked 'Made in USA'!!

Apparently the Union Jack is no longer acceptable. Either use the flag and its colours or not at all. This looks like a tube sock in the breeze.

Nah, if News Corp goes under thanks to the current scandal, then they can hang it on their HQ building. (proudly)

agree. just some joking cynicism, but yeah... they'll spin this into a proud placard, a badge of courage in the midst of their own corruption. "We're on your side."
