MORRISSEY has sparked outrage after saying the tragedy in Norway was "nothing" compared to the actions of fast food chains.

The controversial singer, 52, made his remark while on stage at a gig in Warsaw on Sunday night.

Before launching into his hit Meat is Murder, the outspoken vegetarian made reference to the horrific events last Friday.

This reminds me of the phrase:

"What is popular is not always right, and what is right is not always popular"

...and sometimes you don't have to take technically true statistics and be a dic about them!

The only peace of mind i get about the torture & murder of beings for fast food is that the people who support these companies will get heart disease, clogged arteries and other lovely diseases.

Thank goodness for Morrissey! Ghandi would have said the same thing. Anybody offended by these comments he made are guilt-ridden for their contributions to the sufferings of so many earthlings who just happen to have feathers & fur.

Ghandi would have know the difference between a psychotic murderer and people choosing to eat crappy food (even if that's all they can afford).

The fact that you don't find his comment offense in the slightest, suggests that you need to apply a little more critical thinking to the comments made by men on soap boxes...

You only find it offensive because you think human life is more important than all other life on the planet and probably the universe. We slaughter and torture non-humans on a daily basis with hardly any outcry by the media or people like you. Jesus didn't die for you, The cows, chickens, turkeys, sheep, etc on your plate did and the beagles and chimps and rats and cats did in the laboratories.

Morrissey comes from a long line of politically aware musicians who occasionally let their causes overlap common decency. He should reflect on his asinine comments and perhaps apoligise for the crassness of juxtaposing his obsessive hatred for McDonalds burgers get mixed up with the politics of a Norwegian mass murderer's motives in doing harm to society in general. Idiot.

Well I used to like his music as a solo artist and when he was a member of The Smiths, but not anymore.
Has the man got a heart with what he has come out with?
If all he has to worry about and be concerned with is 'fast food chains' because he is a veggie, then you need Morrisey to re educate that tiny mind of yours you dip****.
If he was in the same position as the poor relatives of the deceased, I assume and hope he would put his loved ones who have just been gunned down by a lunatic before his veggie obsession?

The man has a heart for all living beings. You obviously don't. You think that human life is more important than all other life. Morrisey doesn't, I don't and neither did Ghandi. Praise Ghandi and Morrisey!

he may be a great singer, he's just an insensitive a**. I rest my case!

The Moz is one of my favorite singers of all time. So it is with great sadness that I say, THUMBS DOWN.

Morissey is irrelevant.

And has been since the last Smiths album was recorded.

Keep your name in the papers by being obnoxious Morissey, that'll pay the bills.

Go ahead and call the Chinese a sub species again.

Utter, utter ________. Fill in the blank.

"Morissey is irrelevant."

I think his comments were insensitive like any normal human being, but that statement is cosmic in its irony...

And you're not?

Nope. Im not.

And, the fact you aren't aware of my doings and deeds reflects poorly on you.

Good day to you, Sir/ Ma'am.

You are insensitive to not understand how much suffering and torture your diet causes.

He does like a bit of shock value, but he is correct.

The FF industry with all of their tricks to get the undereducated to eat their food works very well and as a result their best customers suffer from many ailments and eventually premature death.

I think he is damaging the cause of vegetarianism with this claim.

I agree the FF industry is grim but we can change it with agreement

I'm not sure he's damaging the cause, could be.

In the US the only thing that can change FF companies is sluggish sales. We don't have any real food standards.

FF companies can put whatever trash they'd like in their food and a big percentage of our population gorges on it daily without knowing the side effects.

Their customers and the rest of us end up paying, not just monetarily, for it in the end.

What a load of b*****!
Here are some questions for you.
Is he correct with saying being a veggie is more important than what has gone off in Oslo?
Is it only the deprived from education that eat burgers, fried chicken and fast food?
What about the educated and over educated people? Do they only eat posh food, you know venison, caviar and lobster.
Lots of clever people around the world enjoy fast food and flip side of the coin undereducated as you put it do not like fast food. It is personal preference to taste at the end of the day.

Look friend, I'm coming from an American perspective. I'm not sure how the first story I clicked on of the day put me in the UK edition. Anyway...

Do you realize the FF companies haven't spoken to adults in years? Why do you think they spend almost all of their entire marketing budgets on speaking to children?

When you serve super-inexpensive food, the poorest of any population will gravitate toward it, educated or not, but statistically the poorest in every society are the least educated.

You don't like it, but again, Morrissey is correct. I never liked his music much though : )

Peace from the US!

Oh! ...and the poorest tend to take in the least nutrition and tend to have a higher percentage of obesity than the rest of the population.

Peace out!

I love him but I think he is off his rocker. Just a smidge. Why oh Why does he make other people cry?
07:14 on 29/07/2011
Because he is an extremist misanthrope.

Its his only media currency now.

The 'Morissey said something obnoxious about people today' headline.
