Angelina Jolie's ice-queen image cracked a little at the weekend in Sarajevo.
The Oscar-winning actress was visibly overcome when she was presented with an award at a ceremony for her humanitarian efforts on display in her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.
Tonight we are giving the honorary Heart of Sarajevo to a great artist, not only for the great impact she has in the world of cinema but also for persisting and her active engagement in the complexities of the real world we live in,' said Festival Director Mirsad Purivatra.
Jolie had turned up, unannounced, with her partner Brad Pitt, to the closing night of the 17th Sarajevo Film Festival, and welled up when she was presented with a heart-shaped award and given a standing ovation by the audience.
"I will start crying if you don't stop," she said. "I told Brad in the car I was afraid I was going to cry."
