Windscreen Viper: Family Surprised By Serpentine Hitch-Hiker On Car Bonnet

Windscreen Viper: Family Surprised By Serpentine Hitch-Hiker

For an animal that in recent years has found itself on a plane, on a train and even a submarine, a ride on a car bonnet must have seemed a little unexciting.

Then again, the first three were just movies. The fourth is real, and was filmed by a couple in Memphis, Tennessee, who after a stay in a wood woke up and hit the road only to see a 4ft viper emerge from their car's engine - and hook itself onto their windscreen wipers.

In the video, uploaded to YouTube, the driver, Rachel Fisher, repeatedly screams 'oh my God' as her husband Tony films the events on his phone and waits for the animal to slither off - which it eventually did when the car slowed down in traffic.

Take a look at the YouTube hit, which so far has over 200,000 views, above.
