Unusual Or Plain Useless? Obscure University Degree Options

This year's students have a bewildering array of courses on offer to them, all vying for their student loans. These offbeat degrees are all making an attempt to lure students in by providing ever more esoteric specialisms. Parents, used to the traditional subjects, mock these 'Mickey Mouse' degrees -- from David Beckham studies to Equine Psychology.

Are all these courses intellectually pointless? Do they ever turn out high-achieveing graduates? Are we too old-fashioned in our thinking about worthwhile degrees? Perhaps a degree in Cruise Management could set you in good stead...

David Beckham Studies is a much repeated urban myth. This is in fact a module in Football Culture available at Staffordshire University which I believe is most closely aligned to Sociology.

Perhaps the author of this article should go attempt one of these degrees, if only to avoid such mishaps as: "sylubus" & "enrole." Clearly their own education failed but somehow ended up with a career in sneering.
