Green Day Pen Tribute Song 'Amy' For Dead Icon Winehouse

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Amy Winehouse may have a new tribute song from Green Day.

The pop punk trio debuted the track, titled Amy, along with 15 new songs at an intimate gig in California and while they didn't explicitly say it was written about the late singer, some of the lyrics strongly suggested it was penned in her honour.

There were lines that read "dirty records from another time", "27 gone without a trace" and "did you tattoo a lucky charm?", reported NME.com.

The band, who have been writing their new album, put on the fundraising show to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"We have been in jamming and writing new songs for the last few months," they posted on their official websiteGreen Day.com..

"It felt great to play these new Green Day songs live and share our 'work in progress'. Stay tuned for more."
