A man in Australia has lost his driving licence after he was caught driving a motorised beer cooler while drunk.

Chris Petrie, 23, bought the 50CC vehicle online for around AUS$630 (£400), and set about building it with a friend.

Unsurprisingly, you might think, while putting the scooter together they also took advantage of the cooler and filled it with thirst-quenching, alcoholic, rum and cola.

Sadly once finished building the scooter Petrie decided not to wait until the morning to put it to the test.

Instead he rolled out on to the road atop the strange vehicle - and it didn't take too long for the police to put two and two together, pull him over and give him a breathalyser test. He was three times over the limit, police said.

Petrie received a ten-month driving ban and a AUS$500 fine - but as you can see from the video decided to hang on to the scooter anyway.

I am dumbfounded that there is such a thing as a motorised beer cooler. The fact that Chris Petrie was caught drink driving it shouldn't be the main focus of the story; the motorised vehicle should be!
