Katy Perry Ties Michael Jackson's US Billboard Chart Record - Is She On A Par With MJ? (POLL)

Katy Perry Makes History - But Is She On A Par With MJ?

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Katy Perry has become the first woman to score five number one songs from one album in the US Billboard charts.

The I Kissed A Girl star - who was dismissed by some critics as a one hit wonder when she first came on the scene - set the record with her new single Last Friday Night (TGIF), the latest top chart-topper from her platinum album Teenage Dream.

Only Michael Jackson had five number ones from a single record before Katy, from Bad.

But the King of Pop spent a total of seven weeks at the top with his Bad songs, while Katy, 26, has been at the top perch now for a cumulative 18 weeks.

The singer - who is married to British funnyman Russell Brand - had her first major hit with I Kissed a Girl in 2008.
