PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Zack Snyder's Superman movie Man Of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, will see Clark Kent debating whether to become a superhero when the world comes under attack.

The plot of the Warner Bros film has been revealed online as ComicBookMovie.com reports local people in Vancouver are being invited to audition as extras for the film when it begins shooting there in October.

The synopsis for the much anticipated action movie reads: "In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognised and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination.

"Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions.

"But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as 'Superman,' not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves."

The film, currently shooting on location in Chicago, will have an all-star cast including Kevin Costner and Diana Lane as Clark's parents, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White and Russell Crowe as Superman's biological father Jor-El.

I'm surprised that Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns" in 2006) isn't reprising the role, though Henry Cavill (most notable as Charles Brandon in "The Tudors") is obviously a more seriously trained actor. This part, though, never really seemed to require much above looking right, handling the Superman/Clark Kent duality decently and not showing embarrassing attributes in tights. Routh seems to be working a lot, so I guess we shouldn't worry for his career.

oh no, more teenage/adult angst!! will he or won't be a hero. for two thirds of the movie clark will go around moping about his place in the world. being torn between '"real" american dreams of the family farm (being bought out by big agra) shooting guns at wayward wildlife and drinking beers versus those of the big city where farming is done by going to wholefoods, shooting is at wayward people and where people drinking wine really want to drink beer. angst. and oh my god he has a tragedy like the stock market falling 1000 points, his rent control has gone poof and perry white is a black guy and jimmie the cub reporter is really a bear!

Someone at HuffPost considers that a "plot leak"?

Someone at HuffPost considers this newsworthy in any way?

Knock it off with the multitasking and social networking while on the job, put in a bit more effort, HuffPost editors, and you won't have to fill out the pages with this kind of stuff.
