What do Google, Internet Explorer 6 and Chinese lanterns have in common? They’ve all been the subject of e-petitions trying to ban them.

The government’s e-petition website was launched with much fanfare at the start of August, and labelled an opportunity for digital democracy by activists. But with every opportunity for democracy, comes the opportunity to air more left-field views.
