Police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of the attempted murder of two police officers earlier this month during the London riots.
In the early hours of Monday 8 August two police officers from Paddington Green station were run over by a green Citroen in Royston Avenue, East London. The officers were hospitalised and are now recovering. Police said one suffered knee injuries and the other "sustained" shoulder injuries.
The suspect has been taken to a north-east London police station and he remains in custody.
A 31-year-old man was also arrested earlier in August over the incident, and has been bailed until September.
Metropolitan police made the announcement after revealing 2,082 people had been arrested over the riots, including 444 under-18s. Of those 1,191 have been charged.
The prison population is at a record high of 86,821 following the disorder.
Earlier this week Metropolitan Police named and shamed rioters online, as they launched a new online gallery of convicted rioters and their sentences.
Police Commander Simon Foy said the images released by the Metropolitan police sent a “clear message”: "We have made these pictures available so that communities across London can see that those who took part in the appalling scenes which shocked us all have been brought to justice”.
