A glamour model who pleaded guilty to illegally claiming more than Ă‚Â£7,000 in benefits while presenting raunchy television channels has been fined.

Mother-of-two Dionne Stenner, 29, raked in thousands of pounds working under the stage name Morgan James while fronting X-rated programmes.

At the same time she was claiming housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support without telling authorities about her earned income.

She admitted failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions and Brighton and Hove City Council about the change in her financial circumstances.

Brighton and Hove Magistrates' Court heard she received up to Ă‚Â£350 for each night presenting and earned Ă‚Â£18,000 working between 9pm and 5.30am between March and October last year.

Prosecutor Jessica Clarke said she illegally claimed a total of Ă‚Â£7,782 in housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support.

Her crimes came to light after she was shopped by her former boyfriend, the court heard. Wearing a patterned jumper and black leggings, Stenner sat in the dock as the evidence was read out.

Miss Clarke said: "Miss Stenner was interviewed and she fully accepted that she hadn't declared while she was working. She said she knew it was wrong but needed every penny to pay off debts."

Magistrates ordered blonde Stenner, of The Drive, Hove, East Sussex, to pay costs and fines totalling Ă‚Â£1,315.

Outside court, the model said she was "mortified" by her actions but had not tried to hide her crimes and intended to pay back what was owed.

Only 8K she should have gone into politics and got the big money lol.

First thing they should all have to do is pay back the full amount. Then a nice fine on top of that.

Maybe then people would think twice about this

Well, she'll have enough money to pay back the money she stole then, won't she?

Why don't benefits fraudsters have to pay it back?

What's the logic here?  The reason for criminal trials is three-pronged:  deterrence, punishment and/or rehabilitative.  Even with fines and costs she's up £5+K.  The 'punishment' is less than what she took.

I don't see much glamour in Ms.Stenner. People who watch the "Raunchy" TV channels must be easily pleased if she makes all that money.

No mention of this on the "Daily Express" website, normally they would be going hell for leather on this, you know the usual thing about benifits spongers. Could it be that she has worked for one of Richard Desmonds adult channels? After all Desmond is propriotor of the Express too. Conflict of interest?

The impression I get from stories like this is that the convicted people don't give d.a.m.n. and they get away with most of their crimes. Bankers' morality is everywhere.

Sentencing, magistrates said that they were levying a fine on Ms. Stenner, but that if court observers wanted to see how much it was, they would have to get a valid credit card and pick up the phone, now.
